Creative Jargon #4

Making a Statement With Wool
By CATHY HORYN Fashion Reporter Language is very different than the average reporter. Using a wide variety of creative adjectives and descriptive words in sketching the perfect image of items in the readers mind. Cathy Horyn is extremely creative and interesting to read, without even seeing the piece of either Jil Sander's or Bottega Veneta's collections, I could picture the pieces in extreme detail.

1. Silhouette and Design-
•    lanternlike sleeves•    pumped sleeves•    belted dresses or skirts featured pleats that jutted away from the hips•    dresses with a somewhat high, wide-belted waist•    sleeveless dress

2. Details-
•    neat precision of an industrial filter•    elaborate shapes•    flat knitted bodice set at a slight diagonal•    dark wool coats•    soft gathers appeared to be controlled by the suede belt, and not by construction
3. Color-
•    off-white•    gray flannel•    mottled stripe of gold•    saffron, sky blue, clay red

4. Fabric-
•    stiff tents of wool•    black duchess satin•    deluxe, lightweight layers of suede, cashmere and cotton jersey•    silky brown coat in beaver
5. Creative jargon
-
•   red collage of fabric bits•   graduated layers of wool at the back that fluttered like petals •   “regal figure”•   stately femininity was impenetrable•   minimalist but up-to-date expression of glamour
   bewitching piece

Streetstyle Furs! #3

While roaming through the streets of NYC, it's not too difficult to find interesting, strange, and outrageous fashion trends. With the cold wrath of winter still upon us, it isn't difficult to guess that one of the most prevalent street style trends is fur. Winter fur embodies the Scandanavian-wannabes among us all. Fur is fun, so why not play around with it?

This outfit exemplifies the major trend of winter florals and fun furs. For some reason she still looks cold...?

I don't know what's up with this fur armwarmer trend, but obviously it's taking off in NYC. At least they'll be able to endure the strong chill of winter winds. Apparently this trend has started a while ago, I found it on FreePeople.com

Fur can be found on everything from hats, to bags, to coats, to sweaters. It's fun and playful, and at the same time keeps you warm. Fur can be found in all sorts of textures, patterns, colors, and even materials. Even members of PETA can wear fur, if it's faux. Fur can even come in all price points. Fashion girls love FUR!

Better get your fur now before it starts warming up!! What's not to love? You can make fur your own!

Lace, Lace, and more LACE! #2

The must-have item of Spring 2013 is most definitely anything made of lace. Lace is an important staple piece because it can be used and incorporated into many of the hot spring looks, such as hot shorts, high waisted anything, mini, midi, or maxi skirts, blazers, and even jackets. Lace can be added to any design and give it a stylish flare. It can be used as the focal point of the outfit, or it can be a minute detail in a shirt that just pulls an entire look together. Personally, I'm a huge fan of lace because it really can go with anything, come in any color, and add a feminine spin to any garment.

I really love these Badgley Mischka high waisted, sheer, pastel blue, lace   pants. They're super trendy and versatile.

These Jenny Packham white lace high waisted shorts make for the perfect spring time picnic outfit. I need to get myself a pair!

Who wouldn't love a mint green, lace romper by DVF? It encompasses all of the most trendy looks from Spring 2013.

Get your legs ready girls! These lace hot shorts with matching lace blouse by Dolce and Gabbana exemplify the sultry-ness of the lace trend.

The intricacy of this Emillio Pucci lace outfit adds a little oomph to your spring wardrobe. You can wear this outfit as a whole or as separates with other pieces.

Here's my favorite statement piece, a Valentino original, this dress is a show stopper in any respect.
