Rihanna #10

Having just gone to the Rihanna concert, I was inspired to write about how clothing can completely change a person's identity, signature, and most importantly popularity. After a bit of a bust with her debut album Music of the Sun, Rihanna believed that she needed help creating a new image. And what did she do, she sought out the help of stylist, Mariel Haenn. Mariel did something amazing, she completely transformed Rihanna from a good girl to bad girl hence the album Good Girl Gone Bad
With out the help of the fashion transformation by Mariel Haenn I don't think Rihanna would be where she is today.

Who would have thought that this

Could turn into this

The transformation is unbelievable. Her style completely defines who she is and who she represents, and I don't think she would have been able to do it without Mariel.

But in 2011 Rihanna dropped Mariel and picked up a new stylist Mel Ottenberg, who even further trasformed her individuality and popularity.

Now we have the crazy Rihanna that we all know and love

And ofcourse best dressed at the Grammy's in the most amazing and perfect red Alia gown

And by the way, she's just as amazing in person as she sounds on the radio, it's astounding.

10 Ways Technology Drives Tomorrow's Fashion #9

While researching fashion and technology, and how they can be viewed simultaneously, I came across this article. It talks about how technology moves very quickly and like we all know, fashion is evolutionary not revolutionary, but somehow, they are able to move together to produce amazing things. Some of the things that the article talks about are clothing that can help keep us safe, such as an airbag for cyclists, the climate dress that monitors nearby air pollution levels and provides feedback in the form of LED light, the RFID tags that can be embedded into products sold by labels that track the usage of their  products for marketing and store security, and surprisingly, laser cut outs, such as the popular laser cut leather skirts right now. Fashion is symbol of the changing times, and when technology changes, so does fashion. It's quite interesting.

Max and Co Lookbook #8

Max & Co is this incredible Italian fashion brand, that is very innovative and trend-forward. While looking through a sea of lookbook videos, this one struck me as the most beneficial and interesting. Instead of just displaying the clothing for the Spring/Summer 2013 line, Max & Co made it into a video. For some reason when I watch this video I feel like I'm having deja vu, but not because the clothing has reached its decline stage, but because there's something very inviting about the way they shot the video. This video-lookbook definitely did its job because I am not online searching for where to buy Max & Co!

Marc Jacobs #7

While searching for trunk shows on youtube, I came across this awesome video of a Marc Jacobs trunk show for Saks. For a while, Marc Jacobs refused to have fashion shows during Fashion Week, so he resorted to just doing Trunk Shows at stores. I liked this about him because it made him different, and ensured that he not only had a strong relationship with his clients, but worked closely with them in order to cater to their needs. I think that moving from the personal setting of a trunk show to a large fashion show, that can be seen by millions across the globe, is a bit degrading to his uniqueness. I love Marc Jacobs fashion though! This trunk show was amazing.

Dior Metamorphosis #6

My favorite fashion video has to be this Dior Metamorphosis. It was created in a series of three parts, but the third is the best. I love how it looks like a little film, with the filmography in a fifties style. This exemplifies the Dior theme, and makes the viewer very intrigued about Dior fashions. How could you not love a Dior movie?!

Spring/Summer Color Trends #5

Spring/Summer 2013 Colors from WGSN.

The colors of Spring/Summer 2013 are vibrant and fun. Recently, I went to Las Vegas to MAGIC, and saw the up coming trends for Fall/Winter 2013.

There are earthy tones, along with jewel tones.

In the summer I love to wear bright colors, mix and match trends, and most importantly I love the liberty of walking around without a coat!

This past weekend has given us a little glimpse into the Spring feel, and its great!

Here are the mood boards we used with the trend forecasting company I work with, Trendstop.

They're truly inspiring.

Creative Jargon #4

FEBRUARY 24, 2013, 5:37 AM
Making a Statement With Wool
By CATHY HORYN Fashion Reporter Language is very different than the average reporter. Using a wide variety of creative adjectives and descriptive words in sketching the perfect image of items in the readers mind. Cathy Horyn is extremely creative and interesting to read, without even seeing the piece of either Jil Sander's or Bottega Veneta's collections, I could picture the pieces in extreme detail.

1. Silhouette and Design-
•    lanternlike sleeves•    pumped sleeves•    belted dresses or skirts featured pleats that jutted away from the hips•    dresses with a somewhat high, wide-belted waist•    sleeveless dress

2. Details-
•    neat precision of an industrial filter•    elaborate shapes•    flat knitted bodice set at a slight diagonal•    dark wool coats•    soft gathers appeared to be controlled by the suede belt, and not by construction
3. Color-
•    off-white•    gray flannel•    mottled stripe of gold•    saffron, sky blue, clay red

4. Fabric-
•    stiff tents of wool•    black duchess satin•    deluxe, lightweight layers of suede, cashmere and cotton jersey•    silky brown coat in beaver
5. Creative jargon
-
•   red collage of fabric bits•   graduated layers of wool at the back that fluttered like petals •   “regal figure”•   stately femininity was impenetrable•   minimalist but up-to-date expression of glamour
   bewitching piece
